Verde Venom Guacamole

This guacamole replaces the minced serrano pepper with finely diced Verde Venom tomatillo. The tomatillo adds both the traditional tang and 25,000 SHU of heat — one ingredient doing two jobs.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small Verde Venom tomatillo (SS-TIL-02), husked and finely diced
  • ¼ red onion, finely diced
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Small bunch cilantro, chopped
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Halve avocados and scoop into a bowl. Mash to desired texture.

  2. 2

Fold in diced tomatillo, onion, cilantro, and lime juice.

  3. 3

Season with salt. Let sit 5 min for flavors to meld.

  4. 4

    Serve with tortilla chips.

Tips

  • Green Fuse tomatillo (1K SHU) for a mild version.
  • The tomatillo's acidity slows avocado browning — bonus shelf life.
Science Note

Tomatillos contain organic acids (citric, malic) that lower the guacamole's pH, slowing enzymatic browning (polyphenol oxidase activity). The capsaicin is an added benefit — it distributes evenly in the fat-rich avocado matrix.
