The Iyengar Flavor Index: A Receptor-Normalized Seven-Axis Quantitative Scale for Full-Spectrum Chemosensory Engineering

Priyanca Ford · ORCID 0000-0003-0395-1752 · Scoville Splice LLC · 2026

Abstract

Introduces the Iyengar Flavor Index (IFI), a seven-axis quantitative framework normalizing engineered flavor outputs across heat (IFI-H), sweetness (IFI-S), umami (IFI-U), bitterness (IFI-B), kokumi (IFI-K), astringency (IFI-A), and cool-burn (IFI-C) chemosensory receptor families. Defines sub-scale scoring methodology, cross-axis interaction rules, and construct specification standards for reporting engineered flavor phenotypes. No novel genomic sequences are associated with this framework paper.
