What a recipe brief gets you
Food companies have sensory targets but not the molecular tools to specify them. When a tasting panel produces feedback like “more complexity,” “less sharp on the finish,” or “needs to taste fresh on reheating,” that language does not translate directly into an ingredient or formulation change.
A recipe brief translates the sensory target into a construct-backed specification — Iyengar Flavor Index (IFI) scores for each axis, construct candidates from the catalog, a formulation note, and a lab verification protocol. The R&D team receives something it can execute, not a subjective description.

What the deliverable includes
IFI target specification
8-axis IFI score for the target flavor state, with tolerances and minimum thresholds per axis.
Construct shortlist
3–5 constructs from the catalog that meet or approach the target, ranked by match quality and commercial availability.
Formulation notes
Ingredient ratios, processing notes, and interaction effects for the recommended constructs in the stated application.
Verification protocol
A step-by-step sensory and analytical verification checklist for the R&D team, including HPLC markers where applicable.
Amendment path
If the first round misses, we document the gap and issue a revision without a new engagement fee — one revision is included.

How to submit a brief
The intake form asks for: the product category and format, the target consumer and eating occasion, the flavor character you are designing toward (sensory language is fine), the axis or axes you believe are off (optional), and the competitive or regulatory context if relevant.
We respond within two business days to confirm scope and issue an NDA if requested. Deliverable is a PDF specification document formatted for R&D hand-off.
